On Sunday is a reader-focused magazine that accepts short stories and creative nonfiction in any genre. We’re always looking for accessible stories that readers won’t be able to put down.
Have a sci-fi romance that’s been collecting dust on your blog? A cozy slice-of-life story you haven’t found a home for yet? We want to read it!
Send us the story that you loved writing but isn’t literary enough for other magazines.
Really, go ahead—spoon-feed us, confuse us, comfort us, or make us wonder what planet you’re from. As long as we think readers will love it, we want to share it with the world.

Submission Guidelines
We accept stories on a rolling basis and aim to publish one piece per week. Please follow these guidelines when submitting:
- Short stories and creative nonfiction of any genre, up to 5,000 words.
- Simultaneous submissions welcome! Please let us know as soon as your work is accepted elsewhere. (And congrats!)
- Only one submission at a time, please. You can submit again once you’ve heard back from us.
- Previously unpublished work only. Work self-published on your personal blog is totally fine though.
- Original, human-written work only.
- Double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman.
- Format your file name as StoryTitle.docx (or .doc or .pdf).
Submissions are free and always open! Submit here.
Unfortunately, we are not currently a paying market, though we would love to be someday. Until then, we still want to get your awesome stories out into the world!
Rights
If your piece is accepted, we ask for first serial rights and archival rights. Upon publication, all rights will revert to you. If your piece is reprinted elsewhere in the future, we also ask that you acknowledge On Sunday as its original publisher.
